Overview

Hanami Teppanyaki Sushi Bar, nestled in the vibrant heart of El Poblado, Medellín, offers an immersive dining experience that blends traditional Japanese flavors with a contemporary touch. The restaurant's modern and chic decor sets the tone for an upscale meal, inviting patrons who appreciate both quality and ambiance.

The centerpiece here is undoubtedly the teppanyaki grill, where skilled chefs craft dishes like the Sake Teppanyaki and Tepanjaky 5 Proteinas right before your eyes. This interactive approach turns a meal into a memorable event, combining visual flair with the savory aromas of freshly cooked seafood and grilled delicacies. Alongside the teppanyaki, Hanami’s sushi selection stands apart from many in the city, showcasing rolls that balance traditional techniques with inventive ingredients. Noteworthy is the Ojo de Tigre roll, a favorite among guests for its refined composition and flavorful finish.

Appetizers such as Gyoza and the fresh Poke Bowl offer a perfect prelude, while other highlights like Soyo Ramen and Yakisoba reveal the kitchen’s versatility. For those looking for something unique, the Bocado de Rey and the creatively dressed cevichado roll add layers of complexity without overshadowing the integrity of the dishes. Complementing these flavors are refreshing beverages like the Soda Fresa y Liche and a robust Sangria that pairs beautifully with the meal.

Customer feedback reflects a consensus on the quality of the food and the engaging service, particularly praising the chef’s presence at the teppanyaki grill. While some note minor delays and moments of inattentiveness, these are overshadowed by the genuine craftsmanship and delicious results. Hanami appeals to diners seeking an authentic yet polished Japanese dining experience in Medellín, where the focus is placed on fresh ingredients, skilled preparation, and a welcoming atmosphere.

In summary, Hanami Teppanyaki Sushi Bar is more than just a restaurant; it’s a destination for those who value a harmonious blend of taste, artistry, and environment. Great food and very good prices, it took them a while to get all our food but it was really tasty. Just one more thing, some sushi rolls had so many things that the flavors ended up mixing all together

This place is a hidden gem in Medellin. The Teppanyaki was delicious. Chef Gabriell was engaging and entertaining. Hanami has a real sushi menu as opposed to many of the places around Medellin. I recommend the Sangria as well. I highly recommend this spot. Expect to pay American prices but it’s worth it.

We had the gyozas and edamame to start and the hanami teppanyaki for 2 for our main. The food was prepared in front of us on the teppanyaki grill. Everything was perfect (food, service, cerveza, etc.) I can totally recommend this restaurant!

Hanami sushi is upscale and chic, from its modern decor to the quality of the food, and a price point to match. The sushi rolls are crafted delicately and have the perfect balance of rice to fish. My husband and I shared 3 rolls, which was more than enough for the two of us. We had the cevichado roll, a unique twist on a sushi roll, dressed with lime and various kinds of seafood including octopus. The lime gave it a “ceviche” flare to it, which is the point of the roll but I prefer the more traditional rolls. The best roll we had by far was the “ojo de tigre”, I would come back just to order this one. The Kyoto roll was deep fried and had mozzarella, which normally I would steer clear of this type of roll but when in Colombia where there’s cheese on everything, why not? I surprisingly enjoyed this roll. Service was good, although not very attentive to detail - weak wine pours, and we got given a broken plate - which they changed after we brought it to their attention. This place could be a 5/5 with just a few tweaks, but really the food is 100% worth it.

One of the best Teppanyaki my wife and I have ever had. $77 for two orders of spring rolls, and 2 orders of chicken, filet mignon and tiger shrimp, with mixed rice with a draft beer and a pitcher of sangria. Our chef was awesome and professional. Definitely a dinner not to miss in Medellin.

Better than most sushi restaurants in Latin America. I recommend getting a sushi ship or ordering nigiri. The appetizers were mediocre, the fish was okay, medium quality. The rice though, which is the most important ingredient in sushi, was good.

Lovely Teppanyaki place in the heart of the city. The food was great too, the chef as always was very entertaining whilst cooking our food. Must visit when in town.
